Another Goal Reached
I dont know what to say! A
with my this blog I also run Facebook and Instagram pages. I never thought I'd reach 100 followers however this past week I hit 1000 followed/likes on my Facebook and am just a short number away on my Instagram too!
It was not only a huge surprise that so many people have been kind enough to follow my progress and give the support they have, but it was a surprise that I'd hit this number in my first year of drawing and I've not usedYouTube at all really!
YouTube, now that's a different goal all together.
I have made a few short videos of me drawing, most of which I've posted on my Instagram or Facebook anyway, however I've never really used it to try and grow any of my pages or to build my name as an artist. I just don't feel I am experienced enough to teach in anyway shape or form, and I worry that if I do post up videos I'll get bombarded with posts telling me I'm doing this wrong and that wrong. It's not that it would bother me as such, but I feel the saying "Artists don't make mistakes, every artist is different, so there are no mistakes", or something like that lol. It's good enough for me, so when I draw something that isn't quite like what someone may have drawn it like, I've learnt that, that's just fine.,
However when it comes to my Equine and pet portraits, I try to draw them as I see them, to make the owner of the portrait as happy as possible. I hope with the more I draw the portraits the better I will become with each one.
Trusting in myself is something I'm still learning, but people who follow me, other artists that speak with me have been so helpful in getting me to learn that I can go darker, I can put these lines in and get rid of them at a later date etc.
I think the hardest thing for me has been drawing something like a white horse. No animal is pure white, it's just not. So what I've had to learn to do is start with a darker shade, say a dark grey, then start adding layers on top of that getting lighter until I'm at a point where the horse looks white, however if I put a white mark onto the horse with pure white, it will stand out because the coat isn't white like it looks.
Its the drawing in darker layers that I've had to trust myself to do and I'm currently using that system to draw a cream pup, though this portrait is very different to anything I've done before, you'll see him when he's finished and gone to his owner, but I've posted some edited ones so he's not visible totally. I'm very excited by him in all honesty and hope I get to do more like him as he's so much fun!
I want to say that even though I've done a post saying a huge thank you to everyone on Instagram and Facebook, I still wanted to write down about my achievements in my blog as it's a great reminder for me when I look back on things. I like that and hope to do more blogs more often as my art grows.
I have been thinking about doing one blog post a week about my progress on a certain piece, or progress on my pastel work etc. but if I did that I'm not i sure people on my Facebook page would want to read them, so I'm a little unsure at the moment.
I also want to build my own website, however because of cost I was looking at doing through a certain website where you build it yourself etc. but I dont know how to build a webpage, putting in different codes etc. However I've since learnt about a new web building site called something like Duda or Dadu, which is supposed to be just as good if not better and much easier to use, so I may take a day off from drawing, or a morning 😊, to take a look at the website and what it's all about. Anyone else know about this site?
My next blog will be art and about my next mobile phone and which will be the best not only for taking great photographs, but also for using on the web and for other business things.
